Brasilia Senate passed a resolution project recognizing the Armenian Genocide

On May 27, the Federal Senate of Brasilia unanimously adopted Resolution 550/2015, that officially recognizes the Armenian Genocide.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Brazilian Senate approved the resolution which determines “the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, whose 100th anniversary was held on April 24, 2015,” and pays tribute to the victims of genocide “in honor of the descendants of thousands of Armenian refugees who arrived in Brazil and contributed to the economic, social and cultural” areas of the country. Further it stresses that “we must not forget, for that no genocide happen again.”

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian welcomed the resolution.
