Mass for Genocide victims draws crowd to Buenos Aires Cathedral

Yesterday, March 19 at night, was held at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Buenos Aires a Mass in honor of the victims of the Armenian Genocide officiated by Cardinal Mario Poli, Archbishop of Buenos Aires and Primate of Argentina.

The Armenian community was present massively filling the temple with many people who came spontaneously to join the memory of victims. Also attended the ceremony officials, diplomats, representatives of various religions, communities, human rights organizations and authorities of Armenian institutions.

During the emotional ceremony wich was in Spanish and Armenian, a response was held in memoryof the million and a half victims of the Armenian Genocide.

Archbishop Kissag Mouradian, Primate of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Argentina and Chile, Msgrs Vartan Boghossian and Paul Hakimian of the Armenian Catholic Church and other ecclesiastics of the Armenian Church and the Roman Catholic Church, helped Cardinal Poli to officiate the ceremony.

Carlos Manoukian, Head of Cultural Affairs of Armenian Center of Argentina, said that “the Mass was a moving tribute to the martyrs of the Armenian Genocide in the centenary of that tragic massive murder that we are still demanding justice” adding that “the fact that the cathedral was filled demonstrates that the Armenian community is very sensitive and committed with the centennial. It was very encouraging ahead of the important activities that approach. “
