The tourism industries are developing at dynamic paces in Armenia, the progress being visible both internally and internally, says an official responsible for the sector.
At a news conference on Friday, Mekhak Apresyan, the head of the Economy Ministry’s Department of Tourism Development Policy, said they expect tourists’ number to increase by 5% in the hot season.
“Last year, we had 1.192 million tourists – 1% less than the previous year,” he said, attributing the decline to the lower number of visits from Russia.
As for the previous months of 2016, Apresyan said they have already observed an essential increase.
“Against the 252 visit in the first quarter of 2015, we registered a 8.6% growth in the same period of this year,” he added.
